Offline Client Public Beta now available on Steam & Mobile

The final stage of the Offline Client is now available for testing on Steam and Mobile (iOS/Android).

This client will soon replace the current client as the default, enabling you to play offline without an internet connection.

By default, the client uses/loads locally stored resources and data even when you have an active internet connection. An internet connection is only required for game updates, cloud functionality, and renewing the cache for your active purchases.

HOW TO ACCESS

Steam

  • Right-click Melvor Idle in your Steam library
  • Select "Betas"
  • Set "Beta Participation" to "offline-client-stage-3"

iOS

Android

The existing Beta app for Android has been replaced with the new Offline Client version.

To get the beta version of an app, the app must already be installed on your device.

  • Open the Play Store Google Play.
  • At the top right, tap the Profile icon.
  • Tap Manage apps & devices and then Installed.
  • Tap an app to open its detail page.
  • Under “Join the beta,” tap Join and then Join.

Important Android Beta Information
Accessing the Beta on Android can be quite frustrating as Google some time decides to take its time to grant access or show the update. Try these steps if you can't get the Beta to appear:

  • Manually check for app updates in Google Play.
  • Delete Google Play Cache and Data. This should reset the store and force an update check.

The offline client on Android is version 5.1.1+. If your app is not this version, please keep trying the steps above to gain access.

FAQs

How do I report a bug or issue with the app?

Please report it on our GitHub here: https://github.com/MelvorIdle/melvoridle.github.io/issues

Can I go back to the original clients?

Yes, you can!

Will my local saves disappear when accessing the new clients?

They shouldn't, however always create a manual backup of your save before swapping to the Beta client!

Can I access my cloud saves offline?

You cannot. Any cloud functionality requires an internet connection.

Will my Mods work offline?

Yes! Your mods should be stored offline on first load, and can be accessed without a connection from that point forward. You won't receive Mod updates until you are back online.

Can I access my purchases from Steam on Mobile if I'm offline?

Yes, but only after you have loaded the game at least once on the new client with an active internet connection. The game will fetch your active purchases and cache them for access offline.

Where is the Offline Client for Epic Games?

Unfortunately Epic Games Store does not have a suitable public beta testing program. Once we confirm the offline client is stable, we will release the client on Epic Games at the same time as other platforms.
